10 Dishwasher Problems That Require Professional Repairs

Dishwasher Problems That Require Professional Repairs

One of the most essential appliances is your home’s dishwasher. In a modern kitchen, the dishwasher must always run at its highest efficiency to keep your busy life from grinding to a halt. But, several dishwasher issues might keep that from happening.

We’ve listed some of the most typical dishwasher issues here so you can be prepared should problems arise. Remember, our Tampa dishwasher repair experts are always just a phone call away!

1. Dishes Not Fully Cleaned

A dishwasher’s failure to effectively clean dishes is one of the most frequent complaints from our customers. There are a couple spots you should check on your machine to see if leftover food or grease has built up: the strain screen, sprayer arms, and door gasket. If you find build-up there, a quick clean should have your dishes coming out sparkly clean once again.

2. Dishwasher Won’t Start

First things first. Make sure your dishwasher is plugged in. Since most dishwasher plugs are concealed behind cupboards or beneath sinks, there is a tiny possibility that it’s been unplugged, but it doesn’t hurt to take a peek.

Next, check your door latch because it could have become damaged. If the latch malfunctions, the dishwasher won’t be able to start and run securely since the door won’t be able to hold itself closed.

3. Dishes Won’t Dry

If your dishwasher isn’t drying during the dry cycle, check to see if the rinse aid dispenser (which is often placed on the internal door right next to the detergent dispenser) is empty. If yes, open the dispenser’s cap and add additional rinse aid until the container is full once again.

4. Dishwasher Won’t Stop Filling

If you find that your dishwasher won’t stop filling, the hose in your washer may have a hole in it. The pressure will drop if the hose has a hole, preventing the water level switch from turning off. Thus, the machine will continue to fill after it should have stopped.

You could also have a clog in the drainage system leading to standing water in the bottom of the tub.

Leaking Dishwasher

5. Dishwasher Is Leaking

If there is a small amount of water leaking from the dishwasher, it is possible your door seals are faulty. You may be able to have them replaced and get things running sans leak once again.

If there is a substantial leak, it is possible that the detergents have corroded the bottom of your tub. Corrosion will cause water to seep through and collect under your dishwasher. While fixing some tubs is possible, it may cost more than just replacing the appliance.

6. There is a Weird Smell

A dirty filter is the main reason why dishwasher odors occur. The filter in your dishwasher becomes clogged with food particles, and if it isn’t cleaned frequently, it may begin to smell bad.

7. It is Cracked

Unfortunately, if you see a crack on the inside of your dishwasher, it’s time to replace the appliance. There isn’t a whole lot you can do to fix a broken dishwasher, and even if you tried, the repairs would undoubtedly cost more than buying a new one.

8. There are New Noises

If you hear a grinding or droning sound during a wash or rinse cycle, it may be a sign that the circulation pump motor’s bearings have failed or are about to break.

If you hear a grinding or buzzing noise as the water is draining, there may be a problem with the pump impeller.

9. The Soap Won’t Dispense

The dispenser could be jammed if the soap won’t dispense. After the cycle, check to see whether there is detergent in the dispenser or on the tub’s bottom.

Also, tall things like cookie sheets and cutting boards may block the dispenser door when placed in the lower rack.

10. Buttons No Longer Work

Checking that your dishwasher has power is the first step in troubleshooting when the buttons stop functioning. After that, check to see if any buttons have dirt around them and that the Child Lock option is not enabled.

If all looks good, there may be a short in the wiring for the control panel. A repair technician can help you figure out where the problem is.
